Admission Guide
I. How to Apply
Application
Those who wish to study at SFU should submit relevant documents and application form to International Students Office (ISO). The Application Form can be obtained in one of the following ways:
Applicants can go to ISO of SFU directly and fill in the Application Form for admissions;
Applicants can download the Application Form from University’s website or ask for ISO through email;
All completed Application Form and Application Materials mentioned must be sent by Mail, E-mail or Fax to ISO of SFU;
Applicants need to pay the application fee to the university bank account (Read How to pay application fee for details).
Admission
Once accepted, the applicants will receive the confirmation from ISO and the Admission Notice and “Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form)” will be sent within 2 weeks;
With these documents, student needs to go to the nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their home country to apply for the student entry visa (X1 or X2 visa).
Registration
Admitted students should be sure to have all the above mentioned documents back after visa application, which will be required for applying residence permit in China;
Please inform us of the exact date of arrival and flight number after determining to come to study at SFU. And make a good preparation and register at the International Students Office on time.
II. Scholarship Application
SFU provides Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) to international students: Type B which is granted to excellent prospective international students who will apply for Bachelor degree program in SFU. SFU offer scholarships, with the aim to encourage those international students who excel both at study and character, sponsoring their academic pursuit in China. International Students who wish to obtain a Shanghai Government Foreign Student Scholarship should apply online before May.10th .
Scholarship Standard - Waiver of fees for tuition, serious disease and accidental Injury Insurance;
Application Materials
1. Fill in and submit the application form online first at www.study-shanghai.org;
2. Highest diploma and transcripts. Both documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be translated. If applicants are high school or university students, they shall also provide studying certificates;
3. Study plan in Chinese or English;
4. Two recommendation letters in Chinese or English by professors or teachers;
5. Relevant HSK certificate (excluding the foreign students taught in English).
Application Deadline and Notification
1. Applicants should submit the complete application materials mentioned above to the International Student Office of Shanghai Finance University between 1st, March and 10th, May;
2. SFU will notify the students of the enrollment result before July 30 every year.
III. How can I get to SFU
1. From Shanghai Pudong Airport to the University
We suggest that you can take Metro line 2, from Pudong International Airport Station to Century Avenue Station, then, interchange to Line 6 to Ju Feng Road Station, and interchange to Line 12 and get off at Jin Hai Road Station.
You may take a taxi at airport to the campus, approximately RMB150-200.
2. From Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to School
We suggest that you can take Metro line 10, from Hongqiao Airport Terminal 1/2 to Tian Tong Road Station, then, interchange to Line12 and get off at Jin Hai Road Station.
Safety Tips:
To ensure you get to destination safely and quickly, please ignore the taxi driver who asks passengers in the airport. You should ask the schedule or traffic means at information desk, airport bus and taxi waiting areas, and remember to ask the taxi driver for invoice when getting to destination.
